Obama Claims Celebrities Determine Direction of Country
Barack Obama, though making the claim that Mitt Romney is out of touch, appeared at a dinner and gave a speech to a gathering of celebrities this week which drew in about $40,000 per person for a total of about $2 million. In the speech Obama claims that it is the celebrities who determine the direction that the country goes in.
“You’re the tie-breaker,” he said. “You’re the ultimate arbiter of which direction this country goes.”
The event took place at the home of actors Matthew Broderick and Sarah Jessica Parker. Among those in attendance were actress Meryl Streep, Fashion designer Michael Kors and Vogue editor Anna Wintour. Wintour, also a Syria propagandist, moderated a Q & A session between Obama and the guests.
CNSNews reports,
While Democrats have long held political and ideological ties to the TV and movie industry, the dynamic is different this time for Obama. His own celebrity has faded a bit after more than three years in the slog of governing, and some reliable donors have gotten so used to seeing him, they want more — like a real movie star.
What’s more, Obama’s team is getting outraised by Republicans in a new, freewheeling environment, one in which wealthy donors can give unlimited amounts of money to outside political groups, known as super PACs, that can have huge sway over the presidential race.
As one counter-response, Obama is borrowing on the power of entertainers to give big bucks themselves and to encourage others to give what they can.
In addition to this fundraiser and another one the same evening, which raised a total of $4.5 million, Obama also tied the fund raising trip into an official one at Ground Zero. According to The Daily Mail,
Mr Obama has now held more fundraising events than the last six presidents combined, leading to his opponents coining the derisive nickname ‘Campaigner in Chief’.
He frequently combines the events with his official duties, which allows his re-election campaign to defray the President’s travel costs by charging part of them to the public purse.
For a trip like yesterday’s, involving both official duties and campaign events, a formula is applied so that the campaign pays part of the costs – but it still works out cheaper than making a trip purely for campaigning.
On such trips, Mr Obama must be accompanied by Secret Service protection and fly on Air Force One at all times for security reasons, further increasing the cost of his travel.
So taxpayers will pick up part of the tab for Barack Obama to whore himself out to celebrities for campaign money.
It is worth noting that as Obama gave a speech he said, ‘The crux of this campaign is going to be about the economy.’
It seems Barry’s irony will never cease to amaze some of us. He spends tens of thousands of taxpayer’s money for his own political fund raising trip to earn his campaign millions and has the audacity to say the campaign is going to be about the economy. Yes it is going to be about the economy. Would to God it was more about the Constitution, but it’s about the economy and as such the wasteful spending of the people’s money by this president has been shameful and has led to an even deeper recession than when he took office.
