Guess How Many Changes Obama Has Made Unilaterally to the Affordable Care Act

By our count at the Galen Institute, more than 49 significant changes already have been made to the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act: at least 30 that President Obama has made unilaterally, 17 that Congress has passed and the president has signed, and 2 by the Supreme Court.

CHANGES BY ADMINISTRATIVE ACTION

1. Medicare Advantage patch: The administration ordered an advance draw on funds from a Medicare bonus program in order to provide extra payments to Medicare Advantage plans, in an effort to temporarily forestall cuts in benefits and therefore delay early exodus of MA plans from the program. (April 19, 2011)

2. Employee reporting: The administration, contrary to the Obamacare legislation, instituted a one-year delay of the requirement that employers must report to their employees on their W-2 forms the full cost of their employer-provided health insurance. (January 1, 2012)

3. Subsidies may flow through federal exchanges: The IRS issued a rule that allows premium assistance tax credits to be available in federal exchanges although the law specified that they only would be available through an “Exchange established by the State.” (May 23, 2012)

4. Closing the high-risk pool: The administration decided to prematurely halt enrollment in transitional federal high-risk pools created by the law, blocking coverage for an estimated 40,000 new applicants, citing a lack of funds. The administration had money from a fund under Secretary Sebelius’s control to extend the pools, but instead used the money to pay for advertising for Obamacare enrollment and other purposes. (February 15, 2013)

5. Doubling allowed deductibles: Because some group health plans use more than one benefits administrator, plans are allowed to apply separate patient cost-sharing limits to different services, such as doctor/hospital and prescription drugs, allowing maximum out-of-pocket costs to be twice as high as the law intended. (February 20, 2013)

6. Small businesses on hold: The administration has said that the federal exchanges for small businesses will not be ready by the 2014 statutory deadline, and instead delayed until 2015 the provision of SHOP (Small-Employer Health Option Program) that requires the exchanges to offer a choice of qualified health plans. (March 11, 2013)

7. Delaying a low-income plan: The administration delayed implementation of the Basic Health Program until 2015. It would have provided more-affordable health coverage for certain low-income individuals not eligible for Medicaid. (March 22, 2013)

8. Employer-mandate delay: By an administrative action that’s contrary to statutory language in the ACA, the reporting requirements for employers were delayed by one year. (July 2, 2013)

9. Self-attestation: Because of the difficulty of verifying income after the employer-reporting requirement was delayed, the administration decided it would allow “self-attestation” of income by applicants for health insurance in the exchanges. This was later partially retracted after congressional and public outcry over the likelihood of fraud. (July 15, 2013)

10. Delaying the online SHOP exchange: The administration first delayed for a month and later for a year until November 2014 the launch of the online insurance marketplace for small businesses. The exchange was originally scheduled to launch on October 1, 2013. (September 26, 2013) (November 27, 2013)

11. Congressional opt-out: The administration decided to offer employer contributions to members of Congress and their staffs when they purchase insurance on the exchanges created by the ACA, a subsidy the law doesn’t provide. (September 30, 2013)

12. Delaying the individual mandate: The administration changed the deadline for the individual mandate, by declaring that customers who have purchased insurance by March 31, 2014 will avoid the tax penalty. Previously, they would have had to purchase a plan by mid-February. (October 23, 2013)

13. Insurance companies may offer canceled plans: The administration announced that insurance companies may reoffer plans that previous regulations forced them to cancel. (November 14, 2013)

14. Exempting unions from reinsurance fee: The administration gave unions an exemption from the reinsurance fee (one of ObamaCare’s many new taxes). To make up for this exemption, non-exempt plans will have to pay a higher fee, which will likely be passed onto consumers in the form of higher premiums and deductibles. (December 2, 2013)

15. Extending Preexisting Condition Insurance Plan: The administration extended the federal high risk pool until January 31, 2014 and again until March 15, 2014 to prevent a coverage gap for the most vulnerable. The plans were scheduled to expire on December 31, but were extended because it has been impossible for some to sign up for new coverage on healthcare.gov. (December 12, 2013) (January 14, 2014)

16. Expanding hardship waiver to those with canceled plans: The administration expanded the hardship waiver, which excludes people from the individual mandate and allows some to purchase catastrophic health insurance, to people who have had their plans canceled because of ObamaCare regulations. The administration later extended this waiver until October 1, 2016. (December 19, 2013) (March 5, 2014)

17. Bay State bailout: More than 300,000 people in Massachusetts gained temporary Medicaid coverage in 2014 without verification of eligibility, with the Obama and Patrick administrations using a taxpayer-funded bailout to mask the failure of the commonwealth’s disastrously malfunctioning

18. Equal employer coverage delayed: Tax officials will not be enforcing in 2014 the mandate requiring employers to offer equal coverage to all their employees. This provision of the law was supposed to go into effect in 2010, but IRS officials have “yet to issue regulations for employers to follow.” (January 18, 2013)

19. Employer-mandate delayed again: The administration delayed for an additional year provisions of the employer mandate, postponing enforcement of the requirement for medium-size employers until 2016 and relaxing some requirements for larger employers. Businesses with 100 or more employees must offer coverage to 70% of their full-time employees in 2015 and 95% in 2016 and beyond. (February 10, 2014)

20. Extending subsidies to non-exchange plans: The administration released a bulletin through CMS extending subsidies to individuals who purchased health insurance plans outside of the federal or state exchanges. The bulletin also requires retroactive coverage and subsidies for individuals from the date they applied on the marketplace rather than the date they actually enrolled in a plan. (February 27, 2014)

21. Non-compliant health plans get two year extension: The administration pushed back the deadline by two years that requires health insurers to cancel plans that are not compliant with ObamaCare’s mandates. These “illegal” plans may now be offered until 2017. This extension will prevent a wave cancellation notices from going out before the 2014 midterm elections. (March 5, 2014)

22. Reducing cost sharing reductions. The ACA originally called for out-of-pocket maximums to be lowered for enrollees with incomes between 100-400% FPL (Sec. 1402), but the provision proved unworkable for those 250-400% of FPL in combination with prescribed actuarial value requirements and was changed through regulation to apply to only those 100-250% of poverty. (March 11, 2014)

23. Delaying the sign-up deadline: The administration delayed until mid-April the March 31 deadline to sign up for insurance. Applicants simply need to check a box on their application to qualify for this extended sign-up period. (March 26, 2014)

24. Canceling Medicare Advantage cuts: The administration canceled scheduled cuts to Medicare Advantage. The ACA calls for $200 billion in cuts to Medicare Advantage over 10 years. (April 7, 2014)

25. More Funds for Insurer Bailout: The administration said it will supplement risk corridor payments to health insurance plans with “other sources of funding” if the higher risk profile of enrollees means the plans would lose money. (May 16, 2014)

26. Exempting U.S. territories: Despite earlier administration claims that “HHS is not authorized to choose which provisions [of the ACA] might apply to the territories,” HHSwaived six major requirements – such as guaranteed issue, community rating, and essential benefit mandates – that were causing serious disruption to health insurance markets covering 4.5 million residents of U.S. territories. (July 18, 2014)

27. Failure to enforce abortion restrictions. A GAO report found that many exchange insurance plans don’t separate charges for abortion services as required by the ACA, showing that the administration is not enforcing the law. In 2014, abortions were being financed with taxpayer funds in more than 1,000 exchange plans. (Sept. 16, 2014)

28. Risk Corridor coverage: The Obama administration plans to illegally distribute risk corridor payments to insurers, despite studies by both the Congressional Research Service and the GAO saying a congressional appropriation is required before federal agencies can make the payments. (Sept. 30, 2014)

29. Transparency of coverage: CMS delays statutory requirements on insurance companies to disclose data on the number of people enrolled, disenrollment, number of claims denied, costs to consumers of certain services, etc. (Oct. 20, 2014)

30. Tax penalty pass: Approximately 50,000 taxpayers filed income tax returns based upon inaccurate subsidy data they received from the federal government. The administration declared that if they received too large of a subsidy, they will not have to repay the government. The ACA requires, in Sec. 5000A, that “Any penalty imposed…shall be included with a taxpayer’s return…” (February 24, 2015)

CHANGES BY CONGRESS, SIGNED BY PRESIDENT OBAMA:

31. Military benefits: Congress clarified that plans provided by TRICARE, the military’s health-insurance program, constitutes minimal essential health-care coverage as required by the ACA; its benefits and plans wouldn’t normally meet ACA requirements. (April 26, 2010)

32. VA benefits: Congress also clarified that health care provided by the Department of Veterans Affairs constitutes minimum essential health-care coverage as required by the ACA. (May 27, 2010)

33. Drug-price clarification: Congress modified the definition of average manufacturer price (AMP) to include inhalation, infusion, implanted, or injectable drugs that are not generally dispensed through a retail pharmacy. (August 10, 2010)

34. Doc-fix tax: Congress modified the amount of premium tax credits that individuals would have to repay if they are over-allotted, an action designed to help offset the costs of the postponement of cuts in Medicare physician payments called for in the ACA. (December 15, 2010)

35. Extending the adoption credit: Congress extended the nonrefundable adoption tax credit, which happened to be included in the ACA, through tax year 2012. (December 17, 2010)

36. TRICARE for adult children: Congress extended TRICARE coverage to dependent adult children up to age 26 when it had previously only covered those up to the age of 21 — though beneficiaries still have to pay premiums for them. (January 7, 2011)

37. 1099 repealed: Congress repealed the paperwork (“1099”) mandate that would have required businesses to report to the IRS all of their transactions with vendors totaling $600 or more in a year. (April 14, 2011)

38. No free-choice vouchers: Congress repealed a program, supported by Senator Ron Wyden (D., Ore.) that would have allowed “free-choice vouchers,” that the Hill warned “could lead young, healthy workers to opt out” of their employer plans, “driving up costs for everybody else.” The same law barred additional funds for the IRS to hire new agents to enforce the health-care law. (April 15, 2011)

39. No Medicaid for well-to-do seniors: Congress saved taxpayers $13 billion by changing how the eligibility for certain programs is calculated under Obamacare. Without the change, a couple earning as much as much as $64,000 would still have been able to qualify for Medicaid. (November 21, 2011)

40. CO-OPs, IPAB, IRS defunded: Congress made further cuts to agencies implementing Obamacare. It trimmed another $400 million off the CO-OP program, cut another $305 million from the IRS to hamper its ability to enforce the law’s tax hikes and mandates, and rescinded $10 million in funding for the controversial Independent Payment Advisory Board. (December 23, 2011)

41. Slush-fund savings: Congress slashed another $11.6 billion from the Prevention and Public Health slush fund and $2.5 billion from Obamacare’s “Louisiana Purchase.” (February 22, 2012)

42. Less cash for Louisiana: One of the tricks used to get Obamacare through the Senate was the special “Louisiana Purchase” deal for the state’s Democratic senator, Mary Landrieu. Congress saved another $670 million by rescinding additional funds from this bargain. (July 6, 2012)

43. CLASS Act eliminated: Congress repealed the unsustainable CLASS (Community Living Assistance Services and Supports) program of government-subsidized long-term-care insurance, which even the Democratic chairman of the Senate Finance Committee dubbed a “Ponzi scheme of the first order.” (January 2, 2013)

44. Cutting CO-OPs: Congress cut $2.2 billion from the “Consumer Operated and Oriented Plan” (CO-OP), which some saw as a stealth public option, blocking creation of government-subsidized co-op insurance programs in about half the states. Early reports showed many co-ops, which had received federal loans, had run into serious financial trouble. (January 2, 2013)

45. Trimming the Medicare trust-fund transfer: Congress rescinded $200 million of the $500 million scheduled to be taken from the Medicare Part A and Part B trust funds and sent to the Community-Based Care Transition Program established and funded by the ACA. (March 26, 2013)

46. Eliminating caps on deductibles for small group plans: Congress eliminated the cap on deductibles for small group plans as part of the SGR “doc fix.” This change gives small businesses the freedom to offer high deductible plans that may be paired with a Health Savings Account. (April 1, 2014)

47. Making the risk corridor program budget neutral. The Consolidated and Further Continuing Appropriations Act of 2015 provides that CMS may not transfer funds from other accounts to pay for the risk corridor program. Expenditures cannot exceed the funds collected in 2014, blocking CMS from making multi-year calculations. (December 16, 2014).

CHANGES BY THE SUPREME COURT:

48. Medicare expansion made voluntary: The court ruled it had to be voluntary, rather than mandatory, for states to expand Medicaid eligibility to people with incomes up to 138 percent of the federal poverty level, by ruling that the federal government couldn’t halt funds for existing state Medicaid programs if they chose not to expand the program.

49. The individual mandate made a tax: The court determined that violating the mandate that Americans must purchase government-approved health insurance would only result in individuals’ paying a “tax,” making it, legally speaking, optional for people to comply.

‘A lot of people die out here’ and ‘all this blood…is on Obama’s hands': Shocking images show corpses of illegal immigrants left to die after border crossings

The dead bodies of illegal immigrants are turning up in south Texas as Central Americans pour across the U.S.-Mexico border, and a veterinarian who ranches cattle 70 miles from ground zero has the photos to prove it.
Dr. Mike ‘Doc’ Vickers of Brooks County, Texas showed some of the grisly images to MailOnline, all of them far too grotesque to publish unedited.
One picture shows a corpse propped up against a tree near his ranch in Brooks County, his eyes missing and dried blood cascading down his shirtless body.
‘This guy, obviously, had to lay down up against that tree, and that’s where he died,’ Vickers says in interview footage provided exclusively to MailOnline by documentary filmmaker Chris Burgard.
Falcons native to the Rio Grande river valley ‘plucked his eyes out before he was dead,’ the animal doctor concludes. ‘He bled out through his eyes, which tells me that he was probably in a coma but they were eatin’ on him before his heart stopped beating.’

Burgard is working on a sequel to his 2007 documentary, ‘Border,’ which made a splash on the film-festival circuit years before illegal immigration swelled to what President Barack Obama now concedes is a ‘humanitarian crisis.’
When he filmed ‘Border’ in 2005, he said, ‘we had to go out and find illegal traffic.’
‘This time it found us.’
He screened his film on Capitol Hill back then, telling members of Congress that children were becoming pawns in Mexican drug cartels’ smuggling operations into the U.S. homeland.
‘I am not surprised to find immigrants dying 70 miles north of the border,’ Burgard told MailOnline, but ‘I am surprised that nine years later it is still a secret to most of the American people.’
‘The Federal Government has long known about this,’ he said, ticking off Texas and Arizona counties where human remains are continually turning up.
‘Local officials who deal with collecting the bodies are so overwhelmed financially that the cost of coroner inquests on each case is dramatically affecting their budgets.’
Vickers, 64, told MailOnline on Wednesday that since 2012 his organization, the Texas Border Volunteers, has counted 259 dead bodies in his native Brooks County alone, including those of children.
‘And we’re probably only finding 20 per cent of them. A lot of people die out here.’
‘We find a hell of a lot of women,’ he said. ‘Three of the last ones who have died on my ranch have been women. We found a dead 12-year-old boy on my neighbor’s property.’
Some have the good fortune to find Vickers and his crew.
‘We’ve rescued some small children, quite a few,’ Vickers recalled. ‘One boy, 11 years old, was left behind 8 or 9 miles off the highway. He had no idea where he was.’ The border volunteers gave him water and arranged for U.S. Border Patrol agents to pick him up.
‘I’ve seen families out in my front yard under a tree,’ he said, ‘with little bitty toddlers with them.’
The group of about 300 amateur patrolmen go out in teams of up to 40 armed men at a time for 4- to 5-day patrols, reporting to Border Patrol agents and Texas Rangers on where the immigrant traffic is heaviest.
The closest U.S. Border Patrol station, at Falfurrias, Texas, is about 4-1/2 miles from Vickers’ 1,000-acre ranch.
An official in the Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency confirmed that in the month of June more than 4,000 illegal immigrants were apprehended at or near that checkpoint.
About 82 per cent of them were so-called ‘OTM’ border crossers – ‘Other Than Mexican.’
More than 400 were children.
The federal government doesn’t keep statistics on how many dead immigrants’ bodies are recovered, the DHS official told MailOnline.

He conceded to MailOnline that ‘we don’t know how many people are dying without reaching us, just like we don’t know how many people are making it past the checkpoint without being detected.’
Most come from Central America and pay human traffickers known as ‘coyotes’ between $5,000 and $8,000 each to be smuggled into the United States.
Many don’t make it alive.
‘The fact is, they’re all homicides,’ Vickers said. ‘These people pay coyotes who are affiliated with drug cartels big money to be brought here and dropped off at the checkpoint. And they go through our private property to avoid detection.’
‘And the coyotes, a lot of times, by the time they get to the checkpoint, or even north of the checkpoint, run off and leave them. And you know, they’ll point at a light up north, one of those radio towers, and say, “Just keep walking toward that tower. Houston’s 20 minutes away”.’
Houston is a 280-mile drive from Falfurrias.
‘They’ve already duped them of their money,’ he explained. ‘And then some days later they’re still walking around in circles up here with no water. And you know, a lot of them die.’
‘A lot of coyotes don’t leave them, but they put them on a fast pace. We’re talking 3 to 4 miles per hour, through all this deep sand and all this brush, and real, real treacherous terrain. And if they can’t keep up, they’ll beat on them a little bit and tell them, “We’re just going to leave you here to die.” And they do.’
Vickers, a small-time cattle rancher who spends most of his days as a veterinarian caring for his neighbors’ livestock, will play a significant role in Burgard’s next movie.
In the filmmaker’s footage, Vickers shows a photo he took of a gang-tattooed drug runner who was dehydrated when the Texas Border Volunteers stumbled onto him, near the point of death from heat exhaustion.
‘We actually saved this guy’s life,’ he said.
‘After we got the “pistolero” treated, we went another 300 yards and found this guy,’ he says, pointing to a picture of a badly decomposed corpse. ‘He wasn’t so lucky.’

The VA Scandal Just Got Worse

I’m not sure it’s possible that a scandal where the government allows our heroes to die without ever receiving care, then covers up those deaths as if they never happened… can get any worse. But if it can, it just did.

The New York Times is reporting that corruption, backlog and heartlessness at the VA go back much longer than the government first let on.

Staff members at dozens of Department of Veterans Affairs hospitals across the country have objected for years to falsified patient appointment schedules and other improper practices, only to be rebuffed, disciplined or even fired after speaking up, according to interviews with current and former staff members and internal documents.

The growing V.A. scandal over long patient wait times and fake scheduling books is emboldening hundreds of employees to go to federal watchdogs, unions, lawmakers and outside whistle-blower groups to report continuing problems, officials for those various groups said.

In interviews with The New York Times, a half-dozen current and former staff members — four doctors, a nurse and an office manager in Delaware, Pennsylvania and Alaska — said they faced retaliation for reporting systemic problems. Their accounts, some corroborated by internal documents, portray a culture of silence and intimidation within the department and echo experiences detailed by other V.A. personnel in court filings, government investigations and congressional testimony, much of it largely unnoticed until now.

VA comic2The department has a history of retaliating against whistle-blowers, which Sloan D. Gibson, the acting V.A. secretary, acknowledged this month at a news conference in San Antonio. “I understand that we’ve got a cultural issue there, and we’re going to deal with that cultural issue,” said Mr. Gibson, who replaced Eric K. Shinseki after Mr. Shinseki resigned over the scandal last month. Punishing whistle-blowers is “absolutely unacceptable,” Mr. Gibson said.

The federal Office of Special Counsel, which investigates whistle-blower complaints, is examining 37 claims of retaliation by V.A. employees in 19 states, and recently persuaded the V.A. to drop the disciplining of three staff members who had spoken out.

The Times article also says that thus far, the pogrom against whistleblowers goes back at least 7 years!

This is simply more proof of how the government works. Whether it’s the IRS, the NSA, the Justice Department, the EPA, the BLM, or the VA, government agencies are heavy-handed and often without oversight. The government is just too BIG. There is no way to monitor all of the horrible mismanagement and malfeasance that happens among these agencies – which is a prime example of why socialism/communism is always full of corruption and waste. It is inefficient, and when dealing with people, simple and unmeant inefficiency very quickly becomes destructive evil.

So, the VA has known about these problems for years and done nothing to solve them. In fact, instead of dealing with the issues, they’ve instead persecuted the people trying to fix things, and just swept the mess under the rug.

Sounds just like our government.

1. Bundy should fire his ranch foreman and hire Jay Carney who could effectively lie his butt off about Cliven’s cows. “Eating grass? His cows aren’t eating grass. What are you talking about? These are the most transparent, grass adverse, cows ever.”

2. Bundy should rename his ranch “Benghazi” , then the Feds would never show up. Ever.

3. Staying with the Benghazi motif, Bundy could also blame his cows’ raid upon the BLM’s grass flats the result of an anti-Muslim YouTube video. Case closed.

4. Bundy should start boldly smoking and selling grass versus having his cows eat the grass.

5. Bundy should become, for the remainder of his life, a vile race-baiter. If he sold nothing but hate towards whites and conservatives, he could owe the IRS two million in back-taxes and they’d include him during White House fundraisers and MSNBC would give him his own talk show. Problem solved.

6. Staying in the racist vein, Bundy could join the New Black Panthers Party, change his name to Shabrique Shazamm and intimidate all the white devils when they show up to vote during the upcoming midterms. Can you say, “Instant protection by the DOJ?”

7. Bundy should get gold-capped teeth, trade his cowboy hat in for a hoodie, walk around holding his crotch and say “mother-%&#$@” every other word. He’d be hailed as a victim and a poet. A victim poet, I tell you.

8. Bundy should build a mosque on Ground Zero. If he did that he’d own half of Nevada.

9. Bundy should start hanging out with Latin dictators and expand his enterprise from cattle ranching to a gun running operation for drug cartels south of the border. Do it, Cliven. Like, muy pronto.

Massive Obama Travel Bill Remains Secret

There always have been a few voices raising concerns over wildly lavish travel expenses for the Barack Obama, and sometimes his family, while they are not in residence in the people’s house in Washington; the Washington watchdog Judicial Watch, for example, has watched the dollars fly out since 2009.

And WND reported only months ago on estimates that the family’s African vacation tab was no less than $60 million, and possibly as high as $100 million. For what mostly was a vacation.

There have been reports that the Obamas spent more than $7 million for JUST travel for JUST three trips in late 2012 and early 2013, including more than $4 million to go to a Hawaiian vacation at Christmas, more than $2.1 million for a trip to California and back for Barack Obama to “dine with high-dollar fundraiser Jeffrey Katzenberg and appear on the ‘Tonight Show’ with Jay Leno” and nearly another $1.2 million for an “Obama family August vacation” to Martha’s Vineyard.”

Just this week there’s a report that Michelle Obama, her girls and her mom have been staying in a suite costing $8,350 per night in China, where a “well-placed hotel staffer” told the MailOnline that the staff is “fed up.”

“We can’t wait for this to be over, to tell you the truth,” the member of the concierge staff told the newspaper. “The first lady is gracious, and the girls are lovely.” But he said Marian Robinson, Michelle Obama’s mother, has been “barking at the staff.”

But exact totals for the Obamas’ travel expenses are impossible to obtain because the government, and others, simply decline to release the figures. The White House, for example, notes that security costs for the first family are not going to be released. The Secret Service says it’s figures are secret.

And officials with the Democratic National Committee, who are familiar with the costs because they are supposed to reimburse the government for the campaign use of government airplanes, also have declined to respond to WND requests for information.

Calls for more information

But more and more voices are joining the chorus that is calling for more information, or less spending, or both.

The vacation by Michelle Obama, her mother and her daughters to China, going on right now, has sparked the latest round of questions.

At the White House Dossier, reporter Keith Koffler noted the trip, which is going off without reporters in attendance, and with a dearth of official events for the Obamas.

“First Lady Michelle Obama plans to pack in an exciting week of sightseeing during what is definitely NOT a vacation excursion with her daughters, who are on spring break, and her mother, who likes to go on Michelle’s trips,” he wrote.

“The White House refuses to say how much it will cost you, according to the New York Times. Well, I can reveal it here:

“A lot!!”

He cites the expense of a couple of jets – “one of Michelle and one for her stuff” – which actually cost a couple thousand dollars – per minute of flight time.

In fact, it was revealed last month that Air Force One, which ferries President Obama to and from vacations and fundraisers, costs nearly $230,000 an hour to fly, although some smaller jets used occasionally for his family alone might be less expensive.

The China trip, where sightseeing is the main event most days, “is not a vacation. Please repeat to yourself. This is not a vacation,” Koffler wrote. “I’ll give you a moment.”

One commenter, identified anonymously as gracepmc, noted on the Dossier site, “Swinish excess. Undeserved entitlement. And an embarrassment to the nation. She fools no one. If this is a role model for African American women and families then we have arrived at a sad place.”

It was Reince Priebus, the chairman of the Republican National Committee, who during the heat of the 2012 campaign had filed a complaint with the Government Accountability Office over the Obamas’ travel spending.

That followed the president’s multiple fundraiser trips on Air Force One, and his use of a telephone on the jet for fundraising calls.

17 states in 79 days

The National Journal’s George E. Condon Jr. reported at the time, however, “If Priebus hoped to stall the Democratic campaign, there is no sign of Obama tempering his use of Air Force One since Priebus ran to the GAO on April 25. In the 79 days since that complaint, the president has flown to 17 states. In only one of those states – Missouri, where the president gave a high school commencement address in Joplin on May 21 – was there no political flavor to the visit. In the others, fundraisers and openly partisan events dominated the schedule. And the itinerary closely matches the 2012 political map. He has gone to New York four times and three times each to closely contested Ohio and contribution-rich California and Illinois. He also has gone twice each to the politically pivotal states of Florida, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Colorado, Iowa, and Nevada.”

The voices at MSNBC even warned Michelle Obama should “brace … for the latest round of nit-picking” when she stayed over from another family vacation in Hawaii for a 50th birthday celebration last winter.

“The Washington Times juxtaposed their coverage of Obama’s extra vacation relaxing on the beach – a present from her husband – with the polar vortex gripping much of the nation in sub-zero temperatures,” the report said. “The message seemed clear: this lady’s living it up while you’re bundling up.”

To the critics of the expense of having an extra jet trip to return her to Washington separately from her family, MSNBC said, “Watchdog.org crunched the numbers to determine that the first lady’s airfare could cost taxpayers nearly half a million dollars. While that’s a hefty pricetag for a flight from Hawaii, it’s barely a rounding error in terms of the full federal budget.”

It was In The Capital that reported on concerns about the Obamas’ 2013 Martha’s Vineyard vacation.

“A plethora of Republican lawmakers have already take (sic) a break from their August recess to criticize Obama for a taking (sic) an expensive on-week (sic) vacation while millions of Americans are struggling financially. The president pays for food and souvenirs himself, while it’s the taxpayers that eat the cost of Air Force One and the travel expenses of the Secret Service.”

Judicial Watch reported just the Air Force One costs for the trip were nearly $1.2 million. The Secret Service costs were, well, secret. Nobody asked what souvenirs Obama bought for himself.

A few dollar figures:

The dollar figures that are available have been compiled by Judicial Watch, including $98,135.79 for Obama’s President’s Day 2013 golf trip, $81,523.64 for Michelle Obama’s President’s Day 2013 ski trip, $1,092,844.01 for Michelle Obama’s Africa trip, $115,500.87 for Malia Obama’s spring break in Mexico, $83,182.99 for Michelle Obama’s President’s Day 2012 ski trip, $467,585 for Michelle Obama’s trip to Spain, $467,175 for the Obamas’ Copenhagen Olympic bid, and $11,648.17 for the Obama’s to go to New York City for a date night.

Among the details of the expenses that are known, according to JW:

The 2012-2013 Christmas vacation cost taxpayers – for travel alone – nearly $4.1 million. Those expenses for Obama’s trip to be on the Leno show, $2.1 million, and the Martha’s Vineyard trip, $1.1 million.

“The Obamas are abusing the public trust and the taxpayers with unnecessary luxurious vacations and travel,” Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton has said. “These staggering costs show why these documents were covered up and we had to sue in federal court to get them. Another transparency fail for the Obama gang.”

The Journal reports that the fees for political trips by Air Force One used to be based on the equivalent of first-class airfare, but starting in 2010, a new Federal Election Commission rule calls for reimbursement of what it would cost to charter a Boeing 737 – on a formula based on the number of travelers.

But the report notes, “The exact numbers are impossible to get.”

However, Judicial Watch has detailed the known costs, such as a trip to Spain, which was $434,000 for travel alone.

A court action was filed to determine whether there was “any indication of official business conducted by Mrs. Obama while she was in the country.”

The lavish travel hasn’t always been only by the Obamas. WND reported numerous times on then-House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s commuting in an Air Force jet to her California home.

At one point it was documented that she cost taxpayers $101,000 for in-flight food and alcohol over a period in 2008 and 2009. At one point she instructed the Air Force to provide chocolate-covered strawberries for a snack, since it was her birthday.

And The Daily Mail in the United Kingdom has highlighted the $10 million in public money Michelle Obama has spent on her “vacations.”

That report said the family vacation in Hawaii over Christmas 2011 cost taxpayers millions of dollars.

Among some of the categories that made up the estimated more than $4.1 million for the family vacation were: $3.2 million in flight time to carry the Obamas back and forth, a Marine contingent for security at $258,000, $21,600 for each of seven houses rented for 18 days for security officers to be housed, another hotel bill for $72,000, overtime for local police of $250,000 and others.

Sasha and Malia Obama even have been listed as “Senior Staff” when they travel at taxpayer expense. That happened on the family’s African safari.

In a WND assessment of Obama’s travel spending on a few months back, it was uncovered that the Obamas scheduled nearly 4,000 “room-nights” for their stop in Johannesburg and another $2 million for car rentals there.

The report noted when information has been available, the administration has provided information on an inconsistent basis.

In some cases, federal entities such as the State Department, which arranges the logistics of executive branch travel, have thwarted efforts to discover more about the government’s accommodations, transportation and related expenses.

Indeed, WND has been waiting more than a year and a half for the State Department to reveal details of a mysterious stay at the super-luxurious Hotel Hessischer Hof in Frankfurt, Germany.

Although State on Nov. 17, 2011, had uploaded to the FedBizOpps database a contract awarded to the hotel for $52,000, it released no details explaining the contract. State acknowledged receiving the Freedom of Information Act, or FOIA, request, but otherwise has remained silent on the matter.

It remains unclear who may have stayed at the luxury hotel, as the award date is not necessarily indicative of when the government actually used the facility.

Vice President Joseph Biden’s wife, Jill Biden, and Chelsea Clinton, daughter of former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, traveled to Frankfurt just months prior to the notice. However, there is no record of where they stayed as they cheered for Team USA during the Women’s World Cup Final.

The Obama presidency remains opposed by the vast majority of Americans, on pretty much every issue under the sun. Yet the omnipotent White House resident continues to dictate anti-American policy from his ivory tower with complete immunity. How?
Congress Subverted
The entire world, including congress, knows that Barack Hussein Obama is not a Natural Born Citizen of the United States, and that he is constitutionally prohibited from holding the office of President under Article II, an office he has occupied for five years now.
Everyone in congress knows that Obama seized office on a forged birth certification and fraudulent DNC documents.
Because congress has allowed Article II to be ignored since 2008, congress now finds itself in the completely impotent position of not being able to uphold or defend any Article of the US Constitution or the Bill of Rights.
Because House Republicans fear a public backlash to holding the unconstitutional Obama regime fully accountable for their anti-American fraudulent actions, they sit silent, forced to go along with every executive office infringement of both State and individual Rights, completely subverted by the Oval Office pen as if congress no longer exists at all. The House of Representatives holds the purse strings in America. No funds can be raised or spent for any federal use without the direct written consent of the House. Yet the Obama regime has functioned for five years without a single House authorized annual budget, driving the nation to $18 trillion in debt with no congressional oversight or authority.
The Obama regime has created more laws via abuse of executive powers than congress has passed by legitimate process in the same time frame. The constitution gives the federal government no authority over health care whatsoever, yet the Obama regime is controlling and destroying health care today, without a single Republican supporter in congress.
The US Senate is a mere rubber stamp extension of the White House. If there was a single decent Republican in the Senate today, they would have dragged Harry Reid out in the street and punched his lights out years ago.
The Supreme Court is corrupted beyond Repair
Two members of the US Supreme Court were placed on the bench by an illegal invader of the Oval Office and they have no business sitting on that court. Senate Republicans allowed Senate Democrats to railroad them into confirming both and now the court is engaged in subverting Constitutional Law in favor of Marxist “social justice.”
Every member of the US Supreme Court knows that the entire Obama regime is nothing more than a laundry list of usurpations, fraud and anti-American policies. But not one member of the high court has the stones to stand up for the Constitution and the American people and call the Obama regime what it really is, a theft of America.
The People are Clueless

Comprehensive Immigration Reform was passed in 1986, covering all of the remedies being proposed by both Democrats and Republicans again today. The federal government gave a one-time amnesty to over a million illegal aliens in exchange for comprehensive immigration reform back in 1986. But the federal government never enforced the new immigration laws since 1986.
Today, both Democrats and Republicans work to provide amnesty with full citizenship and voting rights to more than 20 million illegal aliens who have invaded our country since the passage of comprehensive immigration reform back in 86’.
The idea that amnesty is being proposed again for benefit of the economy is proven to be a lie by the mere fact that over 90 million legal American citizens are currently unemployed. The notion that our federal government will enforce “new” immigration laws is proven to be a lie by the mere fact that the 1986 Immigration Reform Act has never been enforced since the last one-time amnesty for illegal aliens.
However, if Americans allow the federal government to do whatever they want, they will legalize illegal immigration again, this time for more than 20 million illegal aliens while 90 million Americans are without a job.
No Accountability Anywhere
The Omnipotent Obama is free to do anything he wants, so long as congress, the Supreme Court, fifty State governments and 300 million Americans continue to allow him to do it.
Eric Holder has NO constitutional authority to spend American tax dollars on providing marital benefits to homosexual federal employees, but he just did it.
The Omnipotent Obama has no authority to stop Arizona from enforcing existing immigration laws within the state of Arizona, or to stop New York State from balancing its state budget, but Obama has illegally used federal court appointees to do both.
Although the Obama regime thinks itself an omnipotent third world ruler, it is not.
Whether or not it is even an elected administration is clouded by accusations of massive election fraud and proven identity fraud on the part of Barack Hussein Obama, carried out and covered up by the Democratic Party since 2008.
But whether elected by fraud or not, the Constitution and Bill of Rights exist to protect the States and the People from a tyrannical tin-horn dictator like Barack Obama.
If congress and the Supreme Court are not going to do anything about it, then the People must. Do you know what people do when they don’t know what to do? – Nothing that matters!
The omnipotent Obama can do whatever the People will allow him to get away with, as long as they allow him to get away with it.
Contrary to popular rhetoric, what’s wrong with the current “patriot resistance” isn’t that “we have no leader…” — It’s that everyone thinks themselves a leader, and therefore, we have no followers, hence, no unity in force. The smartest leaders know when to follow…
Only when the People unite and act to hold public servants accountable, will Obama and Co. be stopped.

Obama Blames Conservative Media, Limbaugh and Fox News For Failures…Again

Earlier this week in the New Yorker, President Obama suggested his approval ratings are down because America is full of racists (the same racists who elected him, twice). Now, bonus excerpts from the same article by David Remnick show President Obama blaming his failures on Fox News while accusing the network, conservative media and Rush Limbaugh of turning him into a “caricature.”

The president also complained that conservative media had created a “caricature” of him divorced from “reality” that made rallying voters from those areas particularly difficult.

“The issue has been the inability of my message to penetrate the Republican base so that they feel persuaded that I’m not the caricature that you see on Fox News or Rush Limbaugh, but I’m somebody who is interested in solving problems and is pretty practical, and that, actually, a lot of the things that we’ve put in place worked better than people might think,” Obama said.

Barack Obama is a practical person interested in solving problems? Is that why he told Congress last week that he’s “got a pen” and executive power he isn’t afraid to use it if they don’t do what he wants? A reminder:

With his newly announced overhaul of National Security Agency surveillance activities, President Obama has once again hit a nerve with members of Congress on both sides of the aisle.

The president, as he often does when facing a nettlesome problem, used his executive powers to implement changes.

Obama signaled at a recent Cabinet meeting, though, that more executive actions are likely ahead.

“I’ve got a pen and I’ve got a phone — and I can use that pen to sign executive orders and take executive actions and administrative actions that move the ball forward,” Obama said. He suggested he could use his phone to try and bring people together.

New poll numbers released this week by Quinnipiac show the majority of the country views Obama as untrustworthy and dishonest. Fox News, Rush Limbaugh and conservative media didn’t lie to millions of Americans by telling them they could keep their health insurance plans under Obamacare. In fact, all of these media outlets warned of the opposite years before the Obamacare exchanges were launched on October 1, 2013. Over to you, Neil Cavuto:

Single Mom Thanked Obama for Her $169/mo Insurance, Then Discovered it Would Actually Cost her $621/mo

A few weeks ago, I noted that nearly all of the early Obamacare applicants on the Washington State Health Benefit exchange had been given bad information. They were told they qualified for large subsidies to pay their insurance premiums, but it was all the result of a computer error that was massively underreporting the applicants’ income. The error may even partially explain the state’s unusually high sign-up rate for Obamacare at the outset.

Anyway, after discovering their error, state officials promised to contact all of those affected (about 8,000 people), give them the bad news, and give them another opportunity to decide whether to enroll.

Well, Washington State Wire reports that one of these folks has turned up — Jessica Sanford of Federal Way, Wash., a freelance court reporter. She isn’t just any enrollee. As it happens, President Obama once mentioned her by name. She was so thrilled at getting a “gold” level insurance plan for herself and her son for just $169 per month that she had written Obama to thank him. And then he read from her letter and gave her a name-check in his October 21 Rose Garden speech. He told her story — one of the few positive ones out there — as part of his sales pitch:

“I recently received a letter from a woman named Jessica Sanford in Washington State, and here’s what she wrote: ‘I am a single mom, no child support, self-employed, and I haven’t had health insurance for 15 years because it is too expensive. My son has ADHD and requires regular doctor visits, and his meds alone cost $250 a month. I have had an ongoing tendinitis problem due to my line of work that I have to have treated. Now, finally, we get to have coverage because of the ACA for $169 a month. I was crying the other day when I signed up. So much stress lifted.’

“Now, that is not untypical for a lot of folks like Jessica who have been struggling without health insurance. That is what the Affordable Care Act is all about.”
Unfortunately, Washington State did finally got back to Sanford about her application. That $452 subsidy we said you’d get? That was a mistake. You actually get zero. So for that gold plan, instead of paying $169 per month, you’d pay $621 per month.
Sorry about that.
Now she says her dream of affordable health insurance has gone poof. She can’t afford it. She’ll have to go without. “I’m really terribly embarrassed,” she says. “It has completely turned around on me. I mean, completely.”
At least she was able to enroll her son in Medicaid for $30 per month — but that might be another mistake. As the piece notes, her income is actually slightly too high for that. The state may or may not get around to fixing that error. If it does, she might become eligible for some kind of subsidy for her insurance (because suddenly they’d count again as a family of two), but it’s not going to be anywhere near what she was originally expecting. She says the deductibles for the cheapest plans — the Bronze plans — are simply too high and she wouldn’t be able to cover them anyway.
For middle-class people like Sanford — a single mom who makes just under $50,000 per year — “that is what the Affordable Care Act is all about.” This law was not created to benefit people like her, it was created to benefit someone else, probably at her expense.
