Anderson Cooper Shreds DNC Chairwoman Little Debbie Bulsh…for Lying

For a week now, DNC Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz has been unfairly connecting Mitt Romney to Rep. Todd Akin, saying Romney doesn’t believe in an abortion exception in the case of rape or incest. Romney called for Akin to exit the race due to unfortunate comments he made about rape and pregnancy. Late Tuesday, DWS sent the following a letter to supporters:

Here’s the Republican Party’s message to women in 2012: No choice. No exceptions.

After 48 straight hours of Republicans falling all over each other calling for Rep. Todd Akin to rescind his ridiculous, ignorant-of-basic-biological-functions comments about rape and abortion, their party just voted to embrace Akin’s position by including a constitutional ban on all abortions — even in cases of rape or incest — in their 2012 platform.Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan are now, incredibly, saying they don’t agree with the policies of the party whose nomination they’re about to accept, but guess what? The Los Angeles Times reported yesterday that the platform was, and I quote, “written at the direction of Romney’s campaign.”

This is some pretty unbelievable stuff, even by Mitt Romney standards.

It’s up to us to make sure voters see through this and know just how dangerously wrong for women these candidates are — but we can’t do it without your help. Donate $3 or more today.

Romney, Ryan and the Republican Party are showing their true colors — and just how dangerous they will be for women if they’re victorious on Election Day. We can’t let them continue to say one thing to the public while privately pushing to make it harder for women to control their own bodies.

We know what we’re up against. And if we aren’t able to give Democrats the resources they need to win in November, women in America stand to lose decades of progress.

I’m not willing to let that happen, and I know you aren’t either. Donate $3 or more today to give Democrats the resources we need to fight back against this dangerous hypocrisy:

https://my.democrats.org/GOP-Platform

It’s 2012. The entire Republican Party just said it wants a constitutional amendment telling rape survivors they don’t get to make their own health care decisions. Democrats across the country are fighting back.

Help us fight.

Thanks,

Debbie

The problem? The party platform wasn’t written at the direction of the Romney campaign. So, last night CNN’s Anderson Cooper shredded Debbie Wasserman Schultz for misleading the country about Romney’s position on abortion. DWS responded by saying her misquoting of the L.A. Times to prove her own political point, “doesn’t matter.”

Richard Rubin Sentenced to Ten Months in Federal Prison

Richard Rubin and Diana Wasserman-Rubin
Richard Rubin — husband of former Broward County Commissioner Diana Wasserman-Rubin, who still faces seven felony charges of her own — was sentenced this morning to ten months in federal prison.

Rubin, 66, pleaded guilty in April to federal tax evasion after failing to report $100,000 in fees he received from the town of Davie for a land deal he brokered in 2004.

With attorney David Bogenschutz at his side, Rubin managed to get only ten months up the river — which is in accordance with sentencing guidelines but much less than the maximum penalty of five years.

Rubin had said in court that he and the wife faced financial burdens from damage done to their home by Hurricane Wilma and also owed on a loan he could not repay — which is why he attempted to cheat on his taxes a bit.

That also wasn’t too long after Rubin took in $1.1 million for writing grants for the town of Southwest Ranches — grants that were approved in part by the votes of his wife while she was a county commissioner.

Then, the probable-cause affidavit released last year contended, the couple was living quite lavishly — including spending money on artwork, cruises, vacations to Europe, and a $150,000 home repair project.

Rubin wasn’t charged with tax evasion until April of this year.

The State Attorney’s Office, however, charged Wasserman-Rubin last year with seven counts of felony unlawful compensation related to her votes for her husband’s grant-writing.

A Streetcar Named Disaster- by Debbie Wasserman Schultz

By Javier Manjarres

Here’s one that’s a sure bet to make the Federal Governmental Waste Hall of Shame.

The project is called the Fort Lauderdale Wave Streetcar Project, and the projecct was just awarded $18 million in funding for the initial phase of the endeavor.

Like a moth to a flame, Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz immediately released a statement on her website applauding the funding of a project that she has been tirelessly pandering for working on for seven years.(DWS-release)

Likely Wasserman Schultz opponent Karen Harrington tore into Wasserman Schultz and questioned who really benefits from such an obvious pork-barrel project as this one clearly is.

Without a hint of irony, Congresswoman Wasserman Schultz states that this project “continues the transformation of Broward County into a “livable community”-

“This is wonderful news for South Florida. The Wave is a critical project because it will create jobs while also increasing transit ridership and spurring economic development. It continues the transformation of Broward County into a “livable community” – one which promotes transit-oriented development by enabling our residents to use a street car in place of single passenger vehicles to travel through the downtown Fort Lauderdale area.-Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz
Harrington quickly pounced on the statement-

We weren’t aware that Congresswoman Wasserman Schultz believed that Broward county wasn’t a “livable community.” Our understanding was that Broward county is a very livable community, as Congresswoman Wasserman Schultz herself resides in, and raises her young family in this “livable community.”-Karen Harrington
The proposed 2.7 mile “Streetcar project” is said to run through downtown Fort Lauderdale- but where exactly will the streetcar run? I happen to live four miles from downtown Fort Lauderdale, and I can honestly tell you that there isn’t room for such a project, not is it the least bit necessary. Miami-Dade County considered a similar project with its ‘Metro Mover’, but the project has turned out to be nothing less than a bust for the county.

Another point to take into consideration is, who are they going to be shuffling around downtown Fort Lauderdale? While there are a few residential buildings in the downtown area, the vast majority of the buildings are zoned as commercial, and the majority of businesses, including the restaurants and bars are within a few walking distance blocks of each other.

Check out this a satellite map of Fort Lauderdale- the red outline is what is considered ‘downtown Fort Lauderdale.’ The green outline is the the concentrated living and commericial office buildings
Here is Karen Harrington’s press release from early this morning-

Rep. Wasserman Schultz’s Streetcar to Nowhere
In what can only be described as an egregious display of wasteful spending, Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz has announced on her Congressional website that she has been informed that the “$18 million TIGER grant that she has championed for seven years, the Fort Lauderdale Wave Streetcar project, would be funded.”

We weren’t aware that Congresswoman Wasserman Schultz believed that Broward county wasn’t a “livable community.” Our understanding was that Broward county is a very livable community, as Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz herself resides in, and raises her young family in this “livable community.”

This ‘Streetcar project’ will only create short term job growth, not the long term growth that is discussed in her posting. After the project is completed, exactly how many ‘support jobs’ will be created?

Congresswoman Wasserman Schultz does not speak of whether or not riders will have to pay to ride on the ‘Streetcar’. From what we gather, this project will solely be subsidized by the taxpayer.

We have some more questions that we would like to ask Congresswoman Wasserman Schultz, in regards to this pet project of hers.

-The posting states that $18 million has been allocated for the ‘first phase”. Who pays for the next phase, and how much will that cost?

-How much will it cost to maintain and who will pay for the maintenance?

-Will an additional increase in property taxes be levied to small business to help subsidize this project?

-Who really benefits from this project, the local community, or politicians who are looking to line the pockets of ’Big Labor’?

-Congresswoman Wasserman Schultz states that she has been working on this for seven years, yet she has only been in Washington for six years?

-Are the needs of the community the same today as they were seven years ago?

This project is yet another one of Congresswoman Wasserman Schultz’s deceptive pork-barrel spending projects that does not explain how much it will eventually cost taxpayers.

It’s time to ‘Fire Debbie’, and get back to fiscal responsibility and government accountability.

Debbie Wasserman Schultz- She Should Be Looking for a New Job

Debbie Wasserman Schultz- She Should Be Looking for a New Job

by Javier Manjarres
There’s been much speculation within political circles of late that DNC Chairwoman/Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz may not seek another term in Congress and instead look to position herself for a comfy seat in President Obama’s cabinet were he to win reelection.
There’s been talk that the cabinet position Wasserman Schultz would be in line for would be the Secretary of Health and Human Services, which is currently under the direction of Secretary Kathleen Sebelius.  C’mon, wouldn’t you all want Debbie in charge of administering government-run health care for over 300 million people?
While Wasserman Schultz’s congressional campaign website is up and running, the latest news entry is from March 1, 2012- more than a month ago.  Considering that Wasserman Schultz has been feverishly campaigning across the country for the President and the Democratic Party, it’s not a stretch to think that she’s in the process of making her exit from Congress.
Rumors have been circulating that Democrat State Senator Nan Rich would replace Wasserman Schultz were she to step down from Congress.  Another name that has been tossed around as a potential successor to Wasserman Schultz is Rich’s daughter Laurie Rich Levinson.
According to the Florida Supervisor of Elections, the date Congresswoman Wasserman Schultz is required to qualify by June 8th.  If she does not qualify by petition or pay to get on the ballot by then, she will not be eligible to run for reelection. If you go to the Florida Supervisor of Elections website, you will see that Congresswoman Wasserman Schultz’s name isn’t even listed as a candidate or incumbent. As you scroll up or down the listings of congressional districts, note that all of the other members of Congress running for reelection, are listed as ‘Incumbents,’ except for Wasserman Schultz, who is not listed as either an incumbent or a candidate.
All of the Republican candidates running to defeat Wasserman Schultz are listed except for Gineen Bresso and Juan Eliel Garcia, who have both recently announced their candidacies. Of all these candidates, including Bresso and Garcia, Karen Harrington is the only Republican that has qualified to be on the ballot for the August primary, and for the November general elections.
Is Congresswoman Wasserman Schultz setting the table for an early exit from Congress?  Debbie will no doubt be getting detailed internal polling in the coming weeks that gives her a pretty good idea as to what Obama’s chances are- it’s not likely that she’ll tether her political fate to his if she sees that Obama is likely to go down in November

‘BORDERLINE OFFENSIVE’: DEBBIE WASSERMAN SCHULTZ LEFT NEARLY SPEECHLESS AFTER TOUGH INTERVIEW

Posted on April 3, 2012 at 8:04am by Jonathon M. Seidl

If those interviews by DNC Chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz, where she does nothing but spew talking points and condescending quips, annoy you, then you will likely jump for joy over what you’re about to hear.

Doug McIntyre, a radio host at 790 KABC-RADIO in Los Angeles, interviewed the chairwoman on Monday about the DNC’s decision to name LA Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa to head the party’s convention. As McIntyre notes, Villaraigosa has his critics in Southern California (“Los Angeles can’t even pave the sidewalks”), and McIntryre was floored that he was chosen.

Considering that, he did the opposite of a fluff interview and did the impossible: he left the snarky Wasserman Schultz nearly speechless. Sure, she was able to fall back on to some talking points (demonizing the rich, blaming Republicans), but by the end, she tapped out.

The rare interview is below:
