Dems rebel against Obama admin’s environmental agenda

by Michael Bastaschdebate1221

Democratic governors of Montana and West Virginia are rebelling against the Obama administration and challenging federal limits on greenhouse gas emissions, opting out of what critics are calling the Environmental Protection Agency’s “war on coal.”

“The EPA’s proposed limits on greenhouse gas emissions threaten the livelihood of our coal miners to the point of killing jobs and crippling our state and national economies, while also weakening our country’s efforts toward energy independence,” said West Virginia Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin.

West Virginia and Montana are joining Kansas in filing an amicus brief to urge the U.S. Supreme Court to hear a challenge to rules that give the federal government the power to regulate greenhouse gas emissions from power plants. The states want the court to rule that the EPA misinterpreted its authority under the Clean Air Act and has overreached.
These aren’t the first Democrats to rebel against the Obama administration’s environmental agenda.

A contingent of Democratic senators have called on the Obama administration to reconsider new emissions rules for coal-fired power plants, which they argue would ruin the coal industry.

“Such a requirement is unprecedented under the Clean Air Act and will have the unfortunate effect of preventing the construction of new coal plants or the upgrading of existing sources,” wrote Democratic Sens. Joe Manchin of West Virginia, Joe Donnelly of Indiana, Heidi Heitkamp of North Dakota and Mary Landrieu of Louisiana in a letter to President Obama. “We urge you to consider an alternative approach.”

The EPA is in the process of finalizing new emissions limits for new power plants, which critics argue would effectively ban the construction of coal plants. New natural gas plants would be able to comply with the law without making any upgrades, but coal plants would have to install carbon capture technology — which isn’t commercially viable.

“The EPA’s proposal unfairly targets the coal industry and I strongly urge them to amend this overreach,” said Landrieu in a statement.
The American Coalition for Clean Coal Electricity reports that more than 280 coal-fired generating units are set for shut down partly due to stricter EPA regulations.

Furthermore, just seven new EPA regulations are set to cost the electrical sector $16.7 billion per year, cause 887,000 job losses per year and contribute to the shutting down of 69,000 megawatts of coal-fired power, according to a report by the National Economic Research Associates.

Coal mines have also fallen under the ‘war on coal’ as the EPA recently won a court case which could allow them to revoke water pollution permits for mining projects years after the project was approved.

West Virginia Democrat Rep. Nick Rahall warned that the court’s decision could “open the floodgates to disrupting coal mining in West Virginia and elsewhere” and “upend the traditional balance that has existed between the states and the federal government in the permitting process.”

Joe Manchin has also been opposed to EPA regulations targeting the coal industry.

“For too long the EPA has overreached with its power at the cost of countless American jobs and critical investments,” Manchin said.

Last month, Manchin and fellow West Virginia Democrat Sen. Jay Rockefeller reintroduced a bill that would prevent the EPA from revoking mining permits once a permit has been issued.

“It’s only fair that when the federal government makes a decision about a permit, that decision doesn’t change. Our workers and businesses need to have that certainty to be able to do their jobs,” said Rockefeller.

1 in 4 Democrats Want Obama Impeached

by Dave JollyPresident-Magoo-300x213

In the wake of a flood of scandals rocking President Barack Obama’s ivory tower, Wenzel Strategies conducted a telephone poll last Thursday for WND. I found their results surprising and encouraging. It revealed that a growing number of Americans believe that President Obama should be impeached.
Fritz Wenzel, President of Wenzel Strategies summed up the poll results, saying:
“It may be early in the process for members of Congress to start planning for impeachment of Barack Obama, but the American public is building a serious appetite for it.”
“Half or nearly half of those surveyed said they believed Obama should be impeached for the trifecta of scandals now consuming Washington.”
When they broke it down to the individual scandals, the results still indicate that Obama’s popularity is changing from hero to villain. Poll results for the Benghazi scandal indicated that 50.1% of Americans say that Obama should be impeached. Perhaps the most surprising result was 27.6% of Democrats that responded to the poll on Benghazi said that the president should be impeached.
When asked about the IRS scandal that only became public less than 2 weeks ago, 49% said that Obama should be impeached and again, 24.4% of Democrats responding said Obama should be impeached because of the scandal.
The third scandal covered by the poll involved the Obama administration’s invasion of the AP reporter’s telephone records. On this scandal, 48.6% said they believe Obama should be impeached and 26.1% of Democrats also responded in favor of impeachment.
Wenzel commented further on the results, saying:“What is clear from the data is that Obama is at risk of losing his base. On each of these questions, about one in four Democrats said they agreed Obama should be impeached. What could be more alarming to the White House is that it appears that most of America is tuned in to these issues now, as 93 percent of registered voters said they get at least one news update on these issues every day.”
“Of the three issues now in the news, the one that has been there the longest, and the only one that has to do with the death of American citizens, is seen as the most important to Americans. While 49 percent said the Benghazi murders of U.S. diplomatic personnel is the most serious issue, 26 percent said IRS harassment was most serious, and 25 percent said the seizure of AP phone records was most serious. With news still breaking on all three fronts, it is impossible to know which of the three scandals will ultimately be the most damaging to the Obama administration. These findings clearly show Americans are concerned about what is going on in Washington.”
“What could be most concerning to the White House is that the Democratic Party effort to retake the U.S. House of Representatives next year may be at risk because of these issues. Asked whether they would lean to vote for the Democrat or the Republican in their own congressional district based on what they know about these three situations, 46 percent said they would lean toward voting for the Republican, while 39 percent said they would lean toward voting for the Democrat. Another 16 percent said these issues make no difference in their congressional vote.”
“The appetite is growing for impeachment proceedings. It is too early to say it is time for those proceedings to start, but it’s now possible to see that day on the far horizon.”
Peggy Noonan, former speech writer for President Ronald Reagan summed up what’s happening to the Obama administration and to the president himself. She said:
“We are in the midst of the worst Washington scandal since Watergate. The reputation of the Obama White House has, among conservatives, gone from sketchy to sinister, and, among liberals, from unsatisfying to dangerous. No one likes what they’re seeing. The Justice Department assault on the Associated Press and the ugly politicization of the Internal Revenue Service have left the administration’s credibility deeply, probably irretrievably damaged. They don’t look jerky now, they look dirty. The patina of high-mindedness the president enjoyed is gone.”
“The president, as usual, acts as if all of this is totally unconnected to him. He’s shocked, it’s unacceptable, he’ll get to the bottom of it. He read about it in the papers, just like you. But he is not unconnected, he is not a bystander. This is his administration. Those are his executive agencies. He runs the IRS and the Justice Department. A president sets a mood, a tone. He establishes an atmosphere. If he is arrogant, arrogance spreads. If he is too partisan, too disrespecting of political adversaries, that spreads too. Presidents always undo themselves and then blame it on the third guy in the last row in the sleepy agency across town.”
The winds have turned against Obama’s presidential ship and it appears it could be heading for the rocks. It hasn’t crashed yet, but currents are changing direction, making it harder for Captain Obama to steer away from a splintery end. Will he be able to turn the wheel enough to prevent Titanic disaster?
Personally, I hope not. In fact, I would love to see one or two more scandals surface to show the American people just how corrupt Obama’s administration really is. If that were to happen, I’m sure that no matter how hard he tries, Obama will not be able to save his ship and that he will certainly crash into the rocks and sink.

Detroit in RUINS! The Result of Liberal Policies

Steven Crowder goes to the run-down ghettos of Detroit to figure out why one of the most prosperous cities in America went to shambles.

Read more:

This may be hard for some of you who have ever visited or lived in Detroit to swallow…I’ve heard that 40 square miles of the 160 square miles of the

City of Detroit are vacant, derelict or abandoned buildings, yet the city has to provide water, sewer, fire protection, police services, etc to those areas.

By Frosty Wooldridge

For 15years, from the mid 1970’s to 1990, I worked in Detroit , Michigan . I watched it descend into the abyss of crime, debauchery, gun play, drugs, schooltruancy, car-jacking, gangs and human depravity. I watched entire city blocks burned out. I watched graffiti explode on buildings, cars, trucks, buses and school yards. Trash everywhere!
Detroit 1Detroiters walked through it,tossed more into it, and ignored it. Tens of thousands, and then hundreds of thousands today exist on federal welfare, free housing, and food stamps!
With Aid to Dependent Children, minority women birthed 8-10, and in one case, one woman birthed 24 children as reported by the Detroit Free Press, all on American taxpayer dollars
Detroit 2A new child meant a new car payment, new TV, and whatever mom wanted. I saw Lyndon Baines Johnson’s ‘Great Society’ flourish in Detroit . If you give money for doing nothing, you will get more hands out taking money for doing nothing.

Mayor Coleman Young, perhaps the most corrupt mayor in America , outside of Richard Daley in Chicago , rode Detroit down to its knees. He set the benchmark for cronyism, incompetence, and arrogance. As a black man, he said, “I am the MFIC.” The IC meant “in charge”.
Detroit 3

You can figure out the rest. Detroit became a majority black city with 67 percent African-Americans.

As a United Van Lines truck driver for my summer job from teaching math and science, I loaded hundreds of American families into my van for a new life in another city or state.

Detroit plummeted from 1.8 million citizens to 912,000 today. At the same time, legal and illegal immigrants converged

on the city for the free government handouts, so much so, that Muslims number over 300,000. Mexicans number 400,000 throughout Michigan , but most work in Detroit . As the whites moved out, the Muslims moved in.

Detroit 4

As the crimes became more violent, the whites fled. Finally, unlawful Mexicans moved in at a torrid pace. Detroit suffers so much shoplifting that grocery stores no longer operate in many inner city locations. You could cut the racial tension in the air with a knife! Detroit may be one of our best examples of multiculturalism, pure dislike, and total separation from America !!!

Today, you hear Muslim calls to worship over the city like a new American Baghdad with hundreds of Islamic mosques in Michigan , paid for by Saudi Arabia oil money. High school flunk out rates reached 76 percent last June, according to NBC’s Brian Williams. Classrooms resemble more foreign countries than America !! English? Few speak it! The city features a 50 percent illiteracy rate and growing.

Detroit 4Unemployment hit 28.9 percent in 2009 as the auto industry vacated the city. In Time Magazine’s October 4, 2009, “The Tragedy

of Detroit: How a great city fell, and how it can rise again,” I choked on the writer’s description of what happened. “If Detroit had been ravaged by a hurricane, and submerged by a ravenous flood, we’d know a lot more about it,” said Daniel Okrent. “If drought and carelessness had spread brush fires across the city, we’d see it on the evening news every night.” Earthquake, tornadoes, you name it, if natural disaster had devastated the city that was once the living proof of American prosperity, the rest of the country might take notice.
Detroit 7
But Detroit , once our fourth largest city, now 11th and slipping rapidly, has had no such luck. Its disaster has long been a slow unwinding that seemed to remove it from the rest of the country. Even the death rattle that in the past year emanated from its signature industry brought more attention to the auto executives than to the people of the city, who had for so long been victimized by their dreadful decision making.
Detroit 8
As Coleman Young’s Democrat corruption brought the city to its knees, no amount of federal dollars could save the incredible payoffs, kickbacks and illegality permeating his administration. I witnessed the city’s death from the seat of my 18-wheeler tractor trailer because I moved people out of every sector of decaying Detroit .

“By any quantifiable standard, the city is on life support. Detroit ‘s treasury is $300 million short of the funds needed to provide the barest municipal services,” Okrent said. “The school system, which six years ago was compelled by the teachers’ union to reject a philanthropist’s offer of $200 million to build 15 small, independent charter high schools, is in receivership. The murder rate is soaring, and 7 out of 10 remain unsolved. Three years after Katrina devastated New Orleans , unemployment in that city hit a peak of 11%. In Detroit today, the unemployment rate is 28.9%. That’s worth spelling out: twenty-eight point nine percent.
Detroit 9At the end of Okrent’s report, and he will write a dozen more about Detroit, he said, “That’s because the story of Detroit is not simply one of a great city’s collapse, it’s also about the erosion of the industries that helped build the country we know today.

The ultimate fate of Detroit will reveal much about the character of America in the 21st century.

If what was once the most prosperous manufacturing city in the nation has been brought to its knees, what does that say about

our recent past? And if it can’t find a way to get up, what does that say about America ‘s future?”
Detroit 10As you read in my book review of Chris Steiner’s book, “$20 Per Gallon”, the auto industry won’t come back. Immigration will keep pouring more and more uneducated third world immigrants from the Middle East into Detroit , thus creating a beachhead for Islamic hegemony in America . If 50 percent illiteracy continues, we will see more homegrown terrorists spawned out of the Muslim ghettos of Detroit . Illiteracy plus Islam equals walking human bombs.
Detroit 11You have already seen it in Madrid , Spain , London, England , and Paris , France with train bombings, subway bombings and riots. As their numbers grow, so will their power to enact their barbaric Sharia Law that negates republican forms of government, first amendment rights, and subjugates women to the lowest rungs on the human ladder. We will see more honor killings by upset husbands, fathers and brothers that demand subjugation by their daughters, sisters, and wives. Muslims prefer beheadings of women to scare the hell out of any other members of their sect from straying. Multiculturalism: what a perfect method to kill our language, culture, country and way of life.

HA HA -Democratic strategist: Rape can be prevented by telling men not to assault women - And the MEEK will inherit the earth

by Joe Newby

Gun controlColoradorapeAmanda Collins

Appearing on Tuesday’s edition of Fox News’ “Hannity,” Democratic strategist Zerlina Maxwell said rape can be prevented by simply telling men not to sexually assault women, The Blaze reported.

“I think we should be telling men not to rape women and start the conversation there,” she said.

“Criminals are not going to listen to that,” Sean Hannity responded.

“You are talking about it as if there is some faceless, nameless criminal, when a lot of times it is someone that you know and trust,” Maxwell countered.

She repeated her assertion after Hannity said that “evil exists in the world” and women need to know that these situations unfortunately occur, Jason Howerton wrote.

“We can prevent rape by telling men not to commit it,” she said, adding that with the proper training, men would not rape women, negating the need for women to be armed.

The solution to rape, train men to not rape
Hannity began the segment by slamming Colorado legislators for attempting to remove a woman’s right to defend herself from rape using a firearm.

Earlier this week, legislators in Colorado heard from Amanda Collins, who was raped at gunpoint in a so-called “safe zone.”

Colorado State Sen. Evie Hudak (D), however, dismissed the idea that Collins could have prevented the assault if she was armed.

“I just want to say that, actually statistics are not on your side even if you had a gun,” she said.

“Chances are that if you would have had a gun, then he would have been able to get that from you and possibly use it against you,” she added.

Her comments to Collins sparked a firestorm of criticism, and she later apologized to Collins, but, the Denver Post said, Collins “questioned” the senator’s motive.

After passing the bill through committee, Hudak claimed she was “actually really looking out” for the best interest of college students.

Collins, however, disagreed.

“I was there. I know, beyond a shadow of a doubt in my mind, that had I been carrying that night I would have at some point been able to stop my attack. And consequently, two other rapes would have been prevented and a young life would have been saved,” she told “Fox and Friends.”

Bill Clinton Wants....

Obama campaign tactical stumble telegraphs dire straits in reelection bid

by Jeffery Klein

Much like a winning poker player, the strategic and tactical analysis of the Obama campaign’s kind ‘offer’ to institute a Democrat-wide cease fire from taunting Gov. Romney to release 10 years of tax returns–if he would release just three more years of tax returns–revealed a treasure trove of inside ‘intel,’ as to their own outlook of success…and it’s very dim.

These segments of the email offer from Obama campaign manager, Jim Messina, to Romney campaign manager Matt Rhoades, as reported in a FOXNews article today, captures it all…

So I am prepared to provide assurances on just that point: if the Governor will release five years of returns, I commit in turn that we will not criticize him for not releasing more–neither in ads nor in other public communications or commentary for the rest of the campaign.

And, I repeat, the Governor and his campaign can expect in return that we will refrain from questioning whether he has released enough or pressing for more.

And Rhoades’ reply to Messina left no room for interpretation, by slamming the door on the offer without any apparent concern [for the consequences]…

Thanks for the note. It is clear that President Obama wants nothing more than to talk about Governor Romney’s tax returns instead of the issues that matter to voters, like putting Americans back to work, fixing the economy and reining in spending.

If Governor Romney’s tax returns are the core message of your campaign, there will be ample time for President Obama to discuss them over the next 81 days.

The plaintiff tone and wording of Messina’s offer makes it ‘feel’ more like a negotiated attempt at surrender, as the implied ‘threat’ of the Obama camp’s vacuous and completely juvenile pursuit of ’10 years of tax returns’ has so far yielded them nothing in the way of real traction–even after the impotent “…the words out” slander of Gov. Romney from the Senate floor by Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) two weeks ago.

What would cause them to be so obviously desperate?

First, it is now painfully clear that Team Obama has failed in their attempt to assassinate the character of Gov. Mitt Romney–after spending three months and nearly $100 million–so they must find a ‘silver bullet,’ before Barack Obama is forced to face Mitt Romney and confront his disastrous first-term record during the three upcoming, nationally televised, presidential debates.

Second, their campaign outgo has exceeded their income, even with the ‘Vacancy’ sign hanging outside the door of the Oval Office, because the ‘Campaigner-in-Chief to too busy with his feverish fundraising schedule.

In stark contrast, within a week of announcing Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI), author of the now famous ‘Ryan Budget Plan,’ as his Vice Presidential running mate, Team Romney has received over $10 million in campaign contributions, from 124,800 donors–68 percent of whom are brand new–without even trying, according to Joy Lin’s FOXNews article today.

Third, Team Romney is proving to be equally as ‘tech savvy’ with social media, with the campaign reporting today that Romney gained 510,000 Facebook followers and 54,000 Twitter followers, and Ryan exploding with 860,000 and 118,000, proving they have the capacity to bypass the traditional media and message directly to millions of supporters.

Finally, Team Obama takes another slap in the face from a leader in the black community, as the nation’s first elected black governor, Doug Wilder of Virginia, took Vice President Joe Biden to task on national television–for using a [fake] ‘southern accent’ to tell a mostly black audience in Danville, Virginia that [the GOP]…

Wants to unchain Wall Street … then they’re going to put y’all back in chains.

Gov. Wilder, who is a Democrat and a grandson of slaves, echoed indignant Republican claims that Biden’s remarks invoked slavery to ‘insert’ racism into the presidential race, according to an August 15th Associated Press article.

In the final analysis, it appears as though Team Obama is on the road to self-destruction–rather than surrender–and that would serve America and her future just fine.

Democrats threaten to push U.S. over fiscal cliff if GOP refuses to raise taxes

by Joe Newby

Patty Murray, Democrats threaten to push U.S. over “fiscal cliff” if GOP doesn’t cave on increasing taxes.

Democrats say they are willing to see America go over the “fiscal cliff” if Republicans don’t go along with Democratic Party ideas for raising taxes on higher income earners when the Bush tax rates expire at the end of this year.

“Emboldened by signs that GOP resistance to new taxes may be weakening, senior Democrats say they are prepared to weather a fiscal event that could plunge the nation back into recession if the new year arrives without an acceptable compromise,” the Washington Post reported Sunday.

Effectively, the Democrats are saying: “Our way or the highway.”

“If we can’t get a good deal, a balanced deal that calls on the wealthy to pay their fair share, then I will absolutely continue this debate into 2013,” Senator Patty Murray (D-WA) plans to say in a speech to be given Monday.

According to the Post, “the Senate’s No. 4 Democrat and the leader of the caucus’s campaign arm, plans to make the clearest case yet for going over what some have called the ‘fiscal cliff.’”

Instead of working with Republicans to extend the Bush-era tax rates for everyone, Democrats say they will either raise taxes on the wealthy, or else they will let taxes for everyone increase.

According to the Washington Post:

The halls of the U.S. Capitol are already teeming with people warning of disaster if lawmakers fail to defuse a New Year’s budget bomb scheduled to raise taxes for every American taxpayer and slash spending at the Pentagon and most other federal agencies.

If that happens, Murray plans to say the debate is reset.

“Every proposal will be a tax-cut proposal,” an excerpt from her speech says.

“If middle-class families start seeing more money coming out of their paychecks next year, are Republicans really going to stand up and fight for new tax cuts for the rich? Are they going to continue opposing the Democrats’ middle-class tax cut once the slate has been wiped clean? I think they know this would be an untenable political position,” she plans to say when she delivers the speech at the Brookings Institution.

Murray also plans to say: “Democrats are willing to compromise. We just need a partner.”

But it seems that her idea of “compromise” means Republicans must do as they demand, or else.

According to the Post, the strategy is “risky,” and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) called the Democrats’ position an “outrageous ultimatum.”

“At a moment when the American people are reeling from the slowest recovery in modern times … and just five months away from the economic body blow that will result if tax rates spike, as scheduled, on January 1st, the president’s solution is to take more money away from the very business folks we are counting on to create the jobs that we need,” McConnell said Thursday on the Senate floor.

“Naturally, Republicans oppose this. The way we see it, nobody should see an income tax hike right now.”

The strategy is a risky one for Democrats, as it comes on the heels of a new McClatchy poll that finds a majority favor extending the Bush tax rates for all income levels.

“The poll found 52 percent of registered voters saying they want all the tax cuts extended, including the tax cuts for incomes above $250,000, while 43 percent want the cuts extended just for incomes below that threshold,” McClatchy said on Friday.

“More than a third of Obama supporters (37%), and forty percent of Democrats overall, want the current rates to remain in place. A narrow plurality of women want them left in place, 49/44,” Ed Morrissey wrote at Hot Air.

According to McClatchy, support for extending the tax rates comes from some of Obama’s most reliable supporters, including minorities, young voters and the poor – the very people who will be hurt the most by Murray’s ultimatum.

Senate Dems Kill Obama’s Tax Plan

He Does not Have a Clue

In a shocking repudiation of President Obama’s “soak the rich” economic plans, Senate Democrats today blocked a vote on President Obama’s proposal to raise taxes on those earning more than $250,000 per year. Senate Republicans had proposed an immediate vote on the measure. In fact, they proposed two votes: one to extend the Bush tax cuts in their totality, the other to raise taxes as per Obama’s plan. “My recommendation is we give the president what he asked for,” said Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell.
The strategy for McConnell and Republicans is simple: they want to show Americans that even Democrats recognize that the Bush tax cuts ought to be extended for all Americans. And Democrats want to avoid that vote, so they can continue posturing and conducting class warfare.
Senate Democrats, afraid of the toxic Obama plan, refused to bring either measure to a vote. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid then went on a nonsensical rant about how it was Republicans obstructing President Obama’s tax plan – even though they wanted to vote on it. “The program of the Republicans in the Senate,” said Reid, “has been to divert and deny and obstruct. I asked the presiding officer when we started what are we doing here today? We’re on a small business jobs bill. A pretty simple piece of legislation but extremely important.”
So, according to Senate Democrats, a small business jobs bill – more government spending – takes priority over their own president’s proposal to let Americans keep more of their own money.
Senator Orrin Hatch (R-UT) explained, “It’s mind-boggling to me, Senate democratic leadership turned down an opportunity to vote on President Obama’s tax increase bill …it tells us that the president’s tax increase plan is not just an economic disaster, it’s a political loser. And they know it. It tells us in spite of the big talking from the president’s Chicago reelection campaign about evil Republicans who want to extend all of the 2001 and 2003 tax relief, vulnerable members of the Senate’s Democratic conference do not want to be anywhere near the president’s tax increase alternative.”
That’s exactly right. And if Obama can’t get a vote on his plan from his own party, it just shows how out of touch he is with the constituency of his own Senators.

Democrats Are out Of Money Before Obama is Even Nominated

Democrats canceled a political convention kick-off event at the Charlotte Motor Speedway and will move the activities to Charlotte’s main business district, the convention’s host committee announced.

“While we regret having to move CarolinaFest away from our great partners at the Charlotte Motor Speedway and the City of Concord, we are thrilled with the opportunity that comes with hosting this event in Uptown Charlotte,” said Dan Murrey, the executive director of the Charlotte in 2012 Convention Host Committee.

The move comes as party planners are grappling with a fundraising deficit of roughly $27 million, according to two people familiar with the matter who requested anonymity to discuss internal party politics. With a party ban on direct contributions from corporations, the host committee has raised less than $10 million, well short of its $36.6 million goal, said one of the people.

Murrey said that logistics, not costs, were behind the decision to cancel the Speedway event. Right…..
